Technology meets Sports

Thousands of exhibition visitors have been stoked when they saw what was brought to Germany in wintertime: californian feeling! A different type of surf-action came to Hanover with the Siemens mobile Wave Tour.

World champions, top class professionals, surfing fanatics or first time
wannabes; everyone was welcome to try out the Siemens mobile Wave at "CeBIT" the worlds biggest Telecommunication Fair in Hanover from March 21-28, 2001. It was free to anyone who has been brave enough to give it a go and these guys had a great time riding on nasty 3m waves. Some business-men could not wait to get out of their suits and jump on the boards to experience this attraction.

It was the second stop of the Siemens mobile Wave Tour which started in Sydney, Australia 4 weeks before the german event. Professional participants on this tour were Bill Bryan, Luke Egan, Christian Fletcher, Conan Hayes, Bruce Irons, Ueli Kestenholz, Peter King, Steve Klassen, Reto Lamm, Chris Miller, Jason Prior, Rush Randle and Brian Talma. They are all world-class athletes and champions in the fields of windsurfing, snowboarding, surfing, skim- and skateboarding.

Technology of Siemens mobile also was part of the shows as visitors were able to vote for the best ride on the Wave via WAP. The ones who bet for the winner had the chance to win a mobile phone. Peter Zapf, President Mobile Phones, Siemens, said: "The key feature of the Siemens mobile Wave is that it is fun - for both riders and spectators and we hope that the estimated 8.000.000 visitors to CeBIT will also enjoy this extraordinary one-off experience."

And they for sure did. Not only sport was key at this event. Also music-live acts such as No Angels or ATC enlarged the party atmosphere in the arena in the evening after all the flowboarding actions during the day. Being talk of the fairground from the first minute it was clear that the final competition on Tuesday evening was going to be THE must go to attraction. Bill Bryan won with spectacular airs and moves and the party afterwards was filled with grooving music by DJ Tonka.

Rush Randle, Pro Surfer and Kitesurfer from Maui Hawaii, mentioned of the Siemens mobile Wave: "What a beast, I can't explain it, it's not like anything I have ever done before. It's so unique and so much fun that it keeps us coming back for more."

Definitely they all will come back for more crazy unbelieveable moves.
Will you be there too?
